  • 4-bet your premiums — 7–10% 3-bet is too wide to be all-value. AAxx is a massive favourite vs his range.
  • 3-bet or fold his opens — don’t cold-call and give him position cheaply.
  • Defend blinds wide vs his 38%+ ATS — 3-bet squeeze with value hands from BB.
  • Call down with strong holdings — he barrels wide. Two-pair+ is usually ahead.
  • Don’t bluff-raise without blockers — he calls down with reasonable equity.
Preflop IP: 4-bet premiums. Flat a tight range vs his opens — or 3-bet for value. Don’t cold-call rundowns without a plan.

Preflop OOP: 3-bet his BTN/CO opens from blinds with a wide value range. His 38%+ ATS is highly attackable. He 4-bets back a meaningful portion so be selective.

Flop: Call down with strong holdings in position. He CBets wide. Don’t float without equity. Check-raise strong equity draws.

Turn: Don’t fold two-pair+ to his barrels. He fires turns with speculative equity. Continue with strong made hands and nut draws.

River: Call wide with strong hands. His river bluffing frequency is meaningful. Respect large overbets — they polarise toward nuts or air but his air frequency is real.

  • 3-bet wide from position — 2–6% 3-bet back = near-zero 4-bet pressure. Very high fold equity.
  • Attack flat-call range postflop — when he calls pre, his range is capped. Probe turns aggressively.
  • Respect his 3-bets — value-heavy at this VPIP. Fold non-premiums.
  • Float CBets in position — his postflop ranges are predictable. Check-raise with strong equity.
  • Steal blinds at normal rate — moderate ATS means he defends but won’t over-defend.
Preflop IP: 3-bet wide with some light hands. Near-zero 4-bet back. Flat rundown equity hands in position.

Preflop OOP: Squeeze from blinds when there are callers vs his LP opens. He folds to 3-bets at high frequency given his low 3-bet back.

Flop: Float CBets with equity. His 3–9% gap means some passive holdings in range. Check-raise with strong draws and two-pair+.

Turn: Probe-bet turns when he checks back as PFR — signals genuine weakness. Raise his turn barrels with strong made hands.

River: Value-bet normally. He won’t hero-call light. His rare pot-bets = usually strong.

  • Fold to his 3-bets — value-heavy at 3–5% given his passive profile. Not a light 3-bettor.
  • Probe turns when he checks back — his cautious play means check-backs signal genuine weakness.
  • Value-bet smaller on rivers — he folds to large bets even with decent holdings.
Preflop IP: Wide opens vs his blinds — ATS 22% means he barely defends. Standard 3-bet range vs his rare opens.

Preflop OOP: Squeeze vs his LP opens with real value. His very low ATS makes his opens a consistent target. He folds at high frequency to 3-bets.

Flop: Float his CBets with equity in position. He CBets straightforwardly. His wider VPIP/PFR gap creates uncapped postflop ranges.

Turn: Probe-bet freely when he checks. Common with his cautious profile — he checks back weak holdings and folds to turn pressure.

River: Value-bet smaller (50–66% pot). He folds to large bets but calls medium sizing with a range. His river bets = strong.

Preflop IP: Flat wide in position — you WANT him in pots. Do NOT 3-bet to thin the field. With premiums, 4-bet to build a pot — he calls too wide. His high ATS means he opens nearly every button — just call and outplay postflop.

Preflop OOP: 4-bet squeeze OOP with premium hands. Your AA/KK-type are huge favourites vs his wide range. When he 3-bets, he has slightly more than usual but still wide — 4-bet premiums.

Flop: Call down with strong holdings — let him lead. He CBets nearly everything. Check-call two-pair+ and strong draws. Only raise when you need immediate stack commitment at short SPR.

Turn: Keep calling with strong holdings. He barrels turns with enormous frequency regardless of equity. Two-pair is almost always ahead of his range.

River: Call wide — his river bluffing and thin-value frequency is extreme. Even marginal strong hands (non-nut flush, bottom set on safe board) are profitable calls vs his range.

Preflop IP: Iso large with suited, connected, nut-making hands. His range is enormously weak, so play hands that dominate it rather than speculative trash.

Preflop OOP: Stay more selective. If his 3-bet is low, treat sudden reraises as strong. If his 3-bet is high, widen value 4-bets and trap premium hands.

Flop: Bet value and strong equity hard. Do not waste low-equity bluffs against a player who continues too wide.

Turn: Keep charging dominated made hands and draws. Against an aggressive version, allow him to keep betting into your strongest holdings.

Facing a 3-Bet — IP vs OOP Response

vs LAG Reg 3-Bet (7–10%)
IP (you are in position)
4-bet your premiums (AAxx, KKQJds, AAKJ+). Flat strong rundowns and suited hands with nut potential — his wide 3-bet range means you have equity advantage with position. Do NOT fold strong hands.
OOP (you are out of position)
4-bet premiums (AAxx, KKxx+) and fold the rest. Calling OOP vs his 7–10% 3-bet with his positional aggression is a significant leak. Tighten calling range considerably. Trap occasionally with slow-played monsters.
vs Solid TAG 3-Bet (2–6%)
IP
4-bet premiums (AAxx, KKxx+). Flat strong suited/double-suited rundowns and AA-high hands for implied odds — his 3-bet range is strong but not overly wide. Play in position postflop.
OOP
4-bet AAxx and strong KK hands. Fold most non-premium holdings — his 3-bet range at 2–6% is value-heavy. His 3-bets from blinds vs your LP open are the tightest of all. Fold non-nut hands without hesitation OOP.
vs Cautious Reg 3-Bet (3–5%)
IP
4-bet premiums. Flat a tight range only — his 3-bet is very value-heavy at 3–5% combined with his low overall aggression profile. Don’t over-flat.
OOP
Fold most hands. 4-bet AAxx. His 3-bet is extremely value-heavy — he’s 3-betting with near-premium hands from the blinds vs your LP opens. Fold any marginal holding OOP immediately.
vs Nit 3-Bet (0–4%)
IP
Treat his 0–4% 3-bet as strongly value-weighted. Continue only your strongest premium and nut-capable hands; avoid dominated speculative calls.
OOP
Fold marginal holdings readily OOP. His very low 3-bet range is premium-heavy; continue only extremely strong hands with a clear plan.
vs Calling Station 3-Bet (1–3%)
IP
Fold non-premium holdings — his rare 3-bet is AA/KK-heavy. Even in position, calling vs a 1–3% 3-bet with non-premiums is -EV. 4-bet AAxx to build a pot if you have them.
OOP
Fold everything. Any 3-bet from a calling station is the absolute nuts. Do not argue with this. Fold all non-AA hands immediately.
vs Aggro Good / Positional 3-Bet (5–9%)
IP
4-bet premiums (AAxx, KKxx+). Flat strong rundowns with nut potential — he’ll barrel postflop and your position is valuable. Don’t over-4-bet and bloat the pot OOP vs this player type in other spots.
OOP
4-bet premiums and fold the rest. His 5–9% 3-bet combined with strong positional play makes calling OOP expensive. He’ll apply consistent multi-street pressure. Trap with slow-played AA if you want an alternative line.
vs Tight-Passive / Trapper 3-Bet (0–2%)
IP
A 0–2% 3-bet is heavily value-weighted. Fold non-premiums and continue only strong nut-capable holdings, even in position.
OOP
Fold very aggressively OOP. His rare 3-bet represents unusual strength; avoid paying off the trap with dominated holdings.
vs Maniac 3-Bet (5–12%)
IP
4-bet your premiums — he calls too wide. Flat a wide range of rundowns and suited hands with nut potential — his 3-bet range is wide enough that your implied odds are significant in position. Call his 4-bets with premiums too.
OOP
4-bet premiums (AAxx, KKxx+) and flat strong rundowns in some spots. His wide 3-bet range means you can profitably call OOP with better-than-usual equity. Trap with slow-played premiums — let him build the pot OOP for you.
vs Mega Fish / Any Four 3-Bet (0–15%)
IP
Frequency-dependent. If his 3-bet is low, respect it and continue strong nut-capable hands. If it is high, defend wider in position and value 4-bet a wider linear range. Do not 4-bet bluff a player who hates folding.
OOP
Stay more selective than IP. Against aggressive versions, trap premiums and widen value 4-bets. Against passive versions, treat the rare 3-bet as strongly value-weighted and fold dominated hands.
vs Fish 3-Bet (0–2%)
IP
Fold everything except AAxx. 0–2% 3-bet is extremely premium-heavy. Fold non-premiums rather than trying to outplay that range.
OOP
Fold immediately. No debate. His 3-bet is the absolute nuts every single time. Save your chips for the spots where you have a massive edge — and there are many vs this player type.

Stack Depth Adjustments

LAG Reg

Shallow (10–40bb)

4-bet shove premiums vs his 3-bets. He calls too wide. Don’t fold strong hands to 3-bets short.

Deep (100bb+)

His aggression is maximised deep — wider coverage. Counter with trapping and calling down strong holdings. Avoid light bluffs deep.

Solid TAG

Shallow

His tight range plays accurately. Respect commitments. 3-bet/fold or 3-bet/shove — don’t flat call short and play SPR <3 pots.

Deep

Float more IP. Use later streets. His low 3-bet creates postflop opportunities when he flat-calls. Attack turns and rivers aggressively.

Cautious Reg

Shallow

Apply pressure vs his wide passive range. He plays better short than fish but still predictable. His low ATS makes shove-fold spots easy.

Deep

His trapping is more dangerous deep. Use his low ATS to steal constantly. His passive style means many pots are won by consistent preflop pressure.

Nit

Shallow

Less dangerous short — his trap lines need deep stacks. Apply pressure on connected boards. He may over-commit top set.

Deep

Counter-trap. Slow-play strong holdings and let him build pots with premiums. Steal preflop constantly. He gives up pots to pressure frequently.

Calling Station

Shallow

Pure gift. His passive profile = calls off stacks with dominated holdings. Jam any two-pair+, nut draws, strong flush draws.

Deep

More caution with non-nut holdings. His wide range occasionally hits the nuts. Build pots with strong hands. Don’t slow-play — he won’t build it for you.

Aggro Good

Shallow

His wide 3-bet creates short-stack all-in scenarios. 4-bet shove premiums — he calls too wide. Don’t fold premiums to his 3-bets short.

Deep

Trap him deep. Slow-play strong hands and let him barrel all three streets OOP. Do NOT check-raise small — give him rope to hang himself.

Tight-Passive / Trapper

Shallow

His tight PFR means he plays conservatively short. His limp-calls short stack = strong implied equity. Don’t jam without clear equity edge.

Deep

His trapping is most dangerous deep. Caution with non-nut holdings in large pots. He slow-plays monsters across multiple streets.

Maniac / Random

Shallow

Gift at short stacks. He jams too wide. Call off stacks with any two-pair+, nut draws, strong made hands. His range at short stacks = essentially random.

Deep

Trap him deep. Slow-play strong hands and let him barrel all three streets. Pot control is less relevant — his aggression fills the pot for you.

Mega Fish / Any Four

Shallow

Value-jam strong made hands and premium nut draws. Avoid marginal bluff jams — expect very loose calls.

Deep

Demand stronger nut potential before playing huge pots. Trap selected monsters against aggressive versions and do not pay off dominated non-nut holdings lightly.

Loose-Passive Fish

Shallow

Pure gift. He calls off stacks with dominated hands. Jam any strong equity — two-pair+, nut draws. Short stack = maximum fish exploitation.

Deep

Caution with non-nut holdings. His wide range occasionally connects with the nuts. Build pots with strong hands, pot control with marginal holdings.
